Hot Topic for July. HOT TOPIC: A very timely topic presented by one of our League's own members. Please join us "The Art of Persuasion" Speaker: Shirley Lerch Crum League Member, and Retired Department Head of Humanities, Coastal Carolina Community College Have you ever felt frustrated when trying to influence someone? Have you ever felt frustrated thinking your position was the obvious choice and how could anyone not see that? Civil discourse is central to the way League attempts to impact decision making with elected and appointed officials as well as with each other. Shirley will give us ideas and techniques to advocate for our positions effectively.

Environment Action Team. Jennifer Rigby, New Hanover County Strategy and Budget Office will meet with us August 10. She will discuss Planning 101: Who, what, why of Planning. Also, we are expecting the first document of the UDO to be out in July, so we can ask her questions and comment on that issue.

Fair Elections Action Team. Join us for this first meeting of Lower Cape Fear League's fair elections action team. We will be focusing on the issue of nonpartisan redistricting, also a statewide initiative of the League.
